smry.me turns your website visitors into qualified leads using AI-powered popups. Our embed script reads your page content, understands what each visitor is interested in, and shows them a personalised call-to-action at the perfect moment.

No annoying generic popups. Every message is tailored to what the visitor is actually reading, and the modal automatically matches your site's branding.

Add to your site

Once you've signed up and created your site in the dashboard, you'll get a code snippet that looks like this:

Copy this code and paste it into your website. The best place is just before the closing </body> tag, but it will work anywhere on the page.

Where to paste it

This depends on your website platform:

  • WordPress: Go to Appearance → Theme Editor → footer.php, or use a plugin like "Insert Headers and Footers"
  • Squarespace: Settings → Advanced → Code Injection → Footer
  • Webflow: Project Settings → Custom Code → Footer Code
  • Wix: Settings → Custom Code → Add Code to Body (end)
  • Ghost: Settings → Code Injection → Site Footer
  • HTML site: Paste before </body> in your HTML file

Domain locking

The first time the embed loads on a domain, that domain is automatically locked to your site. This prevents your script from being used on unauthorised domains. You can change your locked domain from the dashboard at any time.

That's it! Once saved, smry.me will start tracking visitor behaviour and showing smart popups.

Configure your business

Go to the Settings tab in your dashboard to tell the AI about your business. This context shapes every popup it generates.

Business context

  • Business name: Your company or brand name
  • Description: What your business does (the more detail, the better the AI copy)
  • Target audience: Who you're trying to reach
  • Tone: Friendly, professional, or playful

Lead goal

Choose what action you want visitors to take:

  • Book a consultation — button says "Book Consultation"
  • Get a demo — button says "Get Demo"
  • Subscribe to newsletter — button says "Subscribe"
  • Request a quote — button says "Get Quote"

The AI automatically aligns all popup copy to your chosen goal — from the headline to the button text.

Form fields

Email is always captured. You can also enable name, phone, and message fields, each optionally marked as required.

Excluded paths

Don't want popups on certain pages? Add paths like /admin, /checkout, or /thank-you to skip them entirely.

Draft & Publish. Settings are saved as a draft until you click Publish. Preview your popup before going live.

Smart popups

Unlike traditional popups that interrupt everyone with the same message, smry.me triggers at the right moment with content tailored to each visitor.

When popups trigger

The popup appears when a visitor shows "thinking" behaviour — not just reading:

  • Exit intent: Mouse moves toward closing the tab
  • Time on site: Spent meaningful time with a pause (not just scrolling)
  • Scroll depth: Read 40%+ of the page and paused
  • Multi-page visits: Browsed 2+ pages and paused
  • Hard limit: 60 seconds maximum before showing (if no other trigger fires)

Smart safeguards

  • Shows only once per session — never nags
  • Never shows to converted visitors — remembered across sessions
  • Won't interrupt someone filling out a form

Auto-branding

The popup automatically detects your site's colours, fonts, and border radius from your CSS. No configuration needed — it just matches your brand. You can also override these in the dashboard's Styling settings.

2-step funnel

Want to segment leads before capturing their email? Enable the 2-step funnel to show a quick question first.

    E.g. "What are you most interested in?" with 2–3 clickable options.

    They pick an option

    The popup updates with tailored copy and a capture form based on their selection.

Configure the question, subtitle, and option labels in Settings → Funnel. The AI generates personalised copy for each option in a single call — so there's zero delay when visitors click.

Partial leads. Even if a visitor picks an option but doesn't enter their email, that interaction is saved as a partial lead with their browsing context.

Modal customization

Make the popup truly yours with styling options in the dashboard's Settings tab.

Styling

  • Colours: Accent, background, text, and border colours
  • Typography: Font family
  • Border radius: Modal and input field corners
  • Blur/overlay: Background dimming effect

Logo

Upload your logo (JPG, PNG, WebP, or SVG) to display in the top-left of the popup. It sits in a branded bar that works with any logo colour.

Background image

Upload a background image that appears as a subtle watermark overlay at 25% opacity behind all popup content.

Lead magnet

Offering a free resource? Enable lead magnets to show an image (like an ebook cover) and AI-generated offer text in the popup. Upload a 3:4 portrait image and a short description of your offer.

Thank you message

Customise the message visitors see after submitting their email (max 150 characters).

Preview as you go. Click Preview in the dashboard to see exactly how your popup looks before publishing.

Your dashboard

The dashboard is your control centre with three main tabs:

  • Install: Get your embed code and manage your domain
  • Leads: View captured leads, conversion funnel, and export data
  • Settings: Configure business context, form fields, styling, webhooks, and team

Live / Off toggle

Turn lead capture on or off instantly from the top bar. When off, the embed script does nothing — no tracking, no popups.

Draft & Publish

Changes you make in Settings are saved as a draft. Click Publish to push them live. This lets you experiment without affecting your site.

Managing leads

The Leads tab shows all captured leads with search, filtering, and detail views.

Lead list

  • Search by email or name
  • Filter by time period, trigger type, or lead status (all/captured/partial)
  • Click any lead to see the full detail view

Lead details

Click a lead to see three tabs of information:

  • Overview: Contact info, AI-generated interest notes, quick engagement stats
  • Journey: Which page they converted on, what CTA they saw, their engagement data
  • Source: UTM parameters, device type, country, and language

Archive & delete

  • Archive: Soft-remove a lead from the active list (can restore later)
  • Delete: Permanently remove a lead (for test data, spam, or GDPR requests)

CSV export

Export your leads as a CSV file. The export respects your current filters — so you can export just this week's leads, or only leads from a specific trigger type.

Email notifications

When a new lead is captured, smry.me sends an email notification to the site owner and all team members. Notifications only fire for fully captured leads (not partial funnel interactions).

Funnel analytics

The conversion funnel card at the top of the Leads tab shows your key metrics:

  • Unique VisitorsModal OpensLeads
  • Conversion rates between each step
  • Selectable time periods: 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days

Funnel option breakdown

When the 2-step funnel is enabled, a donut chart shows how leads split across your funnel options — so you can see which options convert best.

AI optimization

Click Optimize in the funnel card to get AI-powered suggestions for improving your conversion rate. The AI analyses your last 30 days of data and suggests:

  • Trigger threshold adjustments (timing, scroll depth, exit intent)
  • CTA copy guidance based on what's working
  • Insights on your modal rate and conversion rate

You choose which suggestions to apply — nothing changes automatically.

Webhooks

Push leads to your CRM, email platform, or any external tool automatically.

Setup

    Add your webhook URL

    In Settings → Integrations, enter the URL that should receive lead data.

    Copy your signing secret

    Use this to verify that webhook payloads actually come from smry.me (HMAC-SHA256 signed).

    Test it

    Click "Send test" to fire a sample payload to your endpoint.

Payload

Each webhook POST includes the full lead data: email, name, phone, message, page URL, country, device, UTM data, trigger type, and AI-generated interest notes.

Security. All payloads are signed with HMAC-SHA256. Verify the X-Signature header against your signing secret to confirm authenticity.

Team collaboration

Invite team members to view leads and analytics for your site.

Inviting members

Go to Settings → Team to invite collaborators by email. They'll receive a 7-day invitation link. If they don't have an account yet, they'll be prompted to create one.

Roles

  • Owner: Full access — settings, billing, team management, webhooks, site deletion
  • Member: Can view leads, analytics, and site data. Cannot change settings or manage the team.

Google Analytics integration

If your site has Google Analytics 4 (or Google Tag Manager), smry.me automatically pushes events to window.dataLayer:

  • smry_modal_open — when the popup appears
  • smry_lead_captured — when a lead submits their email
  • smry_funnel_option — when a funnel option is clicked

No setup needed — if GA4/GTM is on your site, these events are picked up automatically.
