Welcome to smry.me

smry.me adds a "Summarize" button to your website. When visitors click it, they get an AI-generated summary of the page — the key points, interesting facts, and main takeaways.

It's perfect for blogs, articles, documentation, or any content-heavy site where readers want the gist without reading everything.

How it works

   A small script tag that loads the smry.me button.

   You choose where it shows — floating in a corner or inline with your content.

   Our AI reads the page and creates a clear, helpful summary in seconds.

Add to your site

Once you've signed up and created your site in the dashboard, you'll get a code snippet that looks like this:

Copy this code and paste it into your website. The best place is just before the closing </body> tag, but it will work anywhere on the page.

Where to paste it

This depends on your website platform:

• WordPress: Go to Appearance → Theme Editor → footer.php, or use a plugin like "Insert Headers and Footers"
• Squarespace: Settings → Advanced → Code Injection → Footer
• Webflow: Project Settings → Custom Code → Footer Code
• Wix: Settings → Custom Code → Add Code to Body (end)
• Ghost: Settings → Code Injection → Site Footer
• HTML site: Paste before </body> in your HTML file

Customize your button

In your dashboard, click the Design tab to customize how your button looks and where it appears.

Style

Choose from three visual styles that change both the button and the summary popup:

• Light: Clean white design — blends well with light websites
• Dark: Sleek dark theme — perfect for dark-mode sites
• Gradient: Colorful with animated effects — eye-catching and modern

All three themes are available on every plan. Business users can also use Custom CSS to fully style the button and modal.

Position

Decide where the button appears:

• Floating: Sticks to a corner of the screen (bottom-right is most common)
• Inline: Appears exactly where you place the code — great for putting it near your article title

Button text

The default text is "Summarize". All plans can choose from preset options like "TL;DR", "Quick Summary", or "Key Points". Business plan users can enter fully custom text up to 20 characters.

Your dashboard

The dashboard is your control center. Here's what each tab does:

• Analytics: See how many people view your pages and click the Summarize button
• Design: Customize your button's appearance and position
• Settings: Configure which pages show the button
• Install: Get your embed code and installation instructions

Changes you make are saved as a draft until you click Publish. This lets you experiment without affecting your live site.

Managing pages

Click View Pages in your dashboard to see all the pages where smry.me has been used. For each page you can:

• Edit the summary: Tweak the AI-generated summary if you want to adjust wording
• Clear the summary: Delete it so a fresh one is generated next time
• Ignore the page: Hide the Summarize button on specific pages

Editing summaries

AI-generated summaries are usually great, but sometimes you might want to tweak them. On the Business plan, click Edit on any page to modify:

• Title: The headline shown in the summary popup
• Summary: The main 2-sentence overview
• Key insights: The bullet points highlighting important information
• Topics: Tags that categorize the content
• Key stats: Interesting statistics pulled from the article
• Notable quotes: Memorable quotes with click-to-highlight links

Your edits are saved permanently — they won't be overwritten unless you click "Clear summary".

What each plan includes

• Free: Basic summaries (title, summary, key insights, further reading), all 3 themes
• Pro: Full summaries (adds key stats, notable quotes, tags), full analytics (impressions, clicks, CTR)
• Business: Everything in Pro, plus edit summaries, custom button text, custom CSS, remove branding
